PROGRAMMING
The Mass Autographing will be held on the Friday night; there will be an
Artists' Reception on the Saturday evening, and the World Fantasy Awards Ceremony
will be held at a sit-down Banquet in the hotel on the Sunday afternoon.
PROGRAMME PARTICIPANTS
Not Everyone Will Be On a Panel
It's simple arithmetic. We will have more potential programme participants than slots
available for them. And because we are limited by WFC rules as to how many panels
non-Guests of Honour can participate in, we will try to take a number of things
into consideration. However, the most important factor will
be Are You the Best Person to Speak on This Subject. It doesn't matter how many books
you've had out, or whether you are a New York Times best-seller or not, our top
priority is putting together informative and entertaining panels with the best
participants available to us.
What You Need to Do First
• First of all, unless you are a Guest of Honour, you need to
be a Registered Member of the convention. You can do that here.
• You need to register earlier than later. If we know you
are planning to attend, then we can begin considering you for potential programme slots.
• To make our selection process easier, we have an online
questionnaire for you to fill out. This will help us best decide who is suited to which
panel. If we don't know anything about you, then it is hard to know what to do with
you. Also, we don't have time to search all over the Internet or even your website to find these things out.
• We Do Not need pages of blurbs about your career,
excerpts from your books or credentials (other panels you've done, organisations you belong to, etc.).
Programming Assignments
• Please do not start e-mailing to see if you are on any
panels. If we want you on programming, then we will contact you to let know when we start
assigning slots (this also includes Readings).
• At that time, we may request a brief bio (100 word
or less) for the Programme Book.
Be Available.
If you are only at World Fantasy Convention on the Saturday, then your chances of
getting on programming are severely reduced. The convention runs over four days,
and we have programming every day, starting Thursday afternoon and finishing Sunday evening.
Please Be Patient.
We have a great many people who want to be on programming and publishers who want
their authors to be on panels. We will start making our selection around the summer
of 2013 and will contact you then. Please Note: Just Because You
Have an Attending Membership Does Not Automatically Entitle You To Be On Programming.
